• About Bruce

A web programmer by day, I somehow still spend a lot of time thinking about relationships, God, and the significance of grace and love in daily events. I am old school in the sense that I believe in the reality of sin, and in the need of each human heart for deliverance to the Divine. I am one of those who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that you can find most answers to life's pressing issues in Him and His Word, the Bible. I ain't perfect, and a lot of the time I ain't good, but by God's grace and kindness, I am forgiven and free.

Well, it’s been three days now since I have seen the turtledove parents, and talking to Tim this morning, he suspects something spooked the adults and they have abandoned the nest- and the two eggs. It got down to 45 degrees last night, and without cover, I wonder about the viability of the eggs....

“On the Second Day of May…”

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

I’m not really sure how to fit this into the 12 Days of Christmas tune, but it appears God has given me some guests to watch. Over the last month or so, two turtledoves decided to take over the abandoned veggie tray that sits on the table on the grill in my backyard. I...

    Cool It, Bro

The hard part for me about having this blog and writing things to it is that I am honest. I want to be an honest person. And I want to write honest things. But, unfortunately, I am also a pretty subjective person. I want to write a bit about my own life- my own...

    Reflections from an Easter Weekend

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

Today is Easter Sunday, which as a Christian I celebrate for the resurrection of Jesus, the foundational assertion and centerpiece of my faith- that God sent His Son into the world to die as a sacrifice for human sin, so that in His resurrection from the dead, Death would be dealt a mortal blow...

    Surfacing for Spring

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

I think I’ve started six blog posts in the last month, and all of them with great seed ideas, but as I’ve tried to work through them, tapping ideas out onto the screen, the ideas have just wilted and died. I don’t know if this is writer’s block, or more broadly, just an alive-r’s...

SOTD: “Fly Over States” by Jason Aldean

    by  •  • SOTD • 0 Comments

There is definitely Midwestern blood in me. The first time I heard this song, I was pulled in by the lyrics, and I thought, yeah- I love what I’ve experienced of these places and spaces. Yawning skies and forever fields, flat far as you can see, the smell of the earth, of soil and...

    Say Something

I don’t know how long it has been since I have posted something here I’ve written.  I suppose I could look it up, but then again, we’ll all soon know when this is posted and it takes its place on the index page.  All I know is that it’s been a while, and that...

SOTD: “Sure Be Cool If You Did” by Blake Shelton

    by  •  • SOTD • 0 Comments

Every time I hear a Blake Shelton song, I am inevitably caught by some hook in the musical phrasing- either by some catchy instrumental arrangement, or a comfortable cadence in the song, and as a dancing fool, I end up really liking it. This song is no different. It just rolls along, slow and...

SOTD: “Begin Again” by Taylor Swift

    by  •  • SOTD • 0 Comments

I’m not a huge Taylor Swift fan, but after hearing the music and then listening to the lyrics of this song, I thought it was post-worthy. It’s a gift to realize you can love- and be loved- once more when you’ve loved before, and that love was ignored or taken for granted. It’s a...

A new discovery to me, I will be buying the first album by this group. Excellent vocal layering. A beautiful song. Tremendous worship. Fantastic confession. “All Things New” drops their first album February 12th. You can visit the band’s website here.
