• About Bruce

A web programmer by day, I somehow still spend a lot of time thinking about relationships, God, and the significance of grace and love in daily events. I am old school in the sense that I believe in the reality of sin, and in the need of each human heart for deliverance to the Divine. I am one of those who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that you can find most answers to life's pressing issues in Him and His Word, the Bible. I ain't perfect, and a lot of the time I ain't good, but by God's grace and kindness, I am forgiven and free.

5:45 PM: “I guess it’s Panda again since I don’t cook because I am too lazy to go to the store. I’ll be good tonight and get Black Pepper Chicken with half mixed veggies and half chow mein. Oh, spring rolls sound good too though.” 5:48 PM: “Yikes! How did this ATM card crack...

Last Thursday, Paul texted me and asked if I was up for one more Isotopes game. This week was the last week of the regular season. Yes. Baseball is always a good getaway. Good deal. We’ll touch base next week. Tonight, the Isotopes played the Reno Aces, farm team for the Arizona Diamondbacks. I...

    Doing Chores and Dinnerware

The weekend was mostly good. I never get as much done as I wish to (or ought). I was happy to get some research reading in both yesterday morning and this morning. Not massively driven to watch the Mayweather/McGregor fight, I found myself at my sister’s last night and watched it with all present,...

A week and some ago, I got an email from the UNM Library letting me know that the books I had checked out were due for return. I thought, hey, I think this script deal is a long haul project- might as well see if any of them are available as used books out...

De Anza: Making of the Man

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

I got up this morning a bit early to try and get a little more research done before heading into the office. The topic, again, was de Anza-related. I figure if I continue to hit topics around the substantial moments of his life for the next 5 years, the essentials of the story I...

    Lemonade

There have been times in my life that I have walked in great faith in God. There have been times I have also wandered in great doubt about God. Too often, I’ve tried to make human beings the litmus test for God’s goodness. And as we know, human beings are human beings. I’ve never...

I don’t know. I have nothing tonight. Again. So, here’s my attempt at stitching together three photos I took of the clouds over the Sandias today to try and make a nice panorama.

    Sun Stare: I Got 2017

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

In case you missed it, today was the day (some of) the world went (kinda) dark. Today was Total Eclipse 2017, which at first, when I heard that title, thought it was actually WWF promotion. It wasn’t, though. It was the real deal. Today, the moon blotted out the sun in a diagonal slash...

    A Santa Fe/Roast Chile Day

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

It was nice this morning to have my folks call and say they were on their way out of town, up to Santa Fe, to take a stroll through the city’s annual Indian Market. “Would you like to go?” I thought about it for about two minutes and said yes. They turned around to...

Tonight’s adventure was trying to be a handyman when I am so not wired that way. Anyways, about two weeks ago the ice maker in the fridge quit producing eyes, and for that to happen in a house without AC is a pretty rough situation. Last weekend, my friend Brian came over to walk...

I don’t usually just post food stuff on the old blog here, but today I had a truly remarkable meal at the Owl Cafe. For lunch, a few people from the office were heading up to the restaurant, and it sounded good on a sluggish Friday. With the invite, I had to join the...

    Sweep, Spirit

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

Today, when I blinked, a fire fell, a cataclysmic flash of fear circled the earth and flattened fields, and brushed the broad plains red and black. The globe pitched sideways, every words became gobble, and my neighbors, glassy-eyed and guarded, fed on the hollow half-truths of hate and hurt. Sweep, Spirit, flare of Mercy,...

He was thirty-one with yellowing teeth and yellowing finger tips and he did not have any tattoos on his forearms, but he did have some thin, stylish, expensive round glasses perched on his narrow nose, over a thin face and scrub-covered chin. His drab blonde hair was short and a tad bit oily, except...

Tonight was the last night of the summer screenwriting class I took with Marc Calderwood through UNM Continuing Education, and like each of the others, it was educational and entertaining. After Marc took a little time to recap some of the big thoughts we were supposed to take away from the course, he then...

    Value

I am nearing 50 now, and it can seem like a precarious place. Besides health concerns and a growing sensitivity to the effects of mortality, there are also the questions that surface about meaning and purpose, and personal productivity as you head into your later years. It’s the season in life where everything you’ve...
