• About Bruce

A web programmer by day, I somehow still spend a lot of time thinking about relationships, God, and the significance of grace and love in daily events. I am old school in the sense that I believe in the reality of sin, and in the need of each human heart for deliverance to the Divine. I am one of those who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that you can find most answers to life's pressing issues in Him and His Word, the Bible. I ain't perfect, and a lot of the time I ain't good, but by God's grace and kindness, I am forgiven and free.

    Braden

Clackety-clackety-clack. The train passes a long feild. A red barn and farmhouse sit angled toward each other at the back end of it. The white of a passing post is bright under the midday light. “Braden”, he says. “Braden.” In front of him, a large toddler lays mounted on top of the the green...

    Regret and Want

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

A friend of mine shared this quote post from Toby Mac with me today. It’s a good one, as Toby tends to circle around important ideas and make you stop and consider what you are doing in the big picture of life by his pithy saying at any given moment. I remember hearing (when...

    Sandias at Sunset

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

After yesterday’s slumfest, today wasn’t much better, although I was at least more productive and had a little more energy today. The aches in my shoulders and knees and hands remained, and I awoke with a slight headache this morning as well. And, I awoke a little too early. But I had had it...

    Journal Entry

Today I woke up not feeling to well, so it was a joy to roll over and sleep until about 11AM this morning. Sometimes you just need that. I was feeling achy and my head felt dull. When I got up, I maintained my need to do little today. I made some coffee. I...

    Valle de Oro

Today, I thoroughly appreciated being able to take a day off from work just for some personal down time, and I enjoyed the time away a great deal. It’s not that I did a whole lot. It’s more that there were some good memorable moments throughout the day. And the day started with a...

    They Yell At Him

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 1 Comment

They yell at him because he was coach here, manning the helm in the famous Pit, and he left and became coach there instead, in the pavilion where Wooden built a dynasty, where making just the Sweet Sixteen is pretty much a failure. They yell at him for only winning two-thirds of his schedule,...

    Valentine’s Egg

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

For Valentine’s Day night, I did what comes natural to me. I watched Return of the Jedi, to round out my revisit to the original three films in the franchise. I was about two-thirds of the way through the film when it dawned on me… Darth was a cold mean man because his heart...

    Filtered

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

Last night, I recalled I still had a set of neutral density filters in my camera bag I had never used before, and most specifically, and ND-10 filter that I had picked up on sale a month ago at Amazon. I determined I’d go somewhere after work this evening and give the ND-10 filter...

It was a true Monday today. I came home tonight and sat down to watch a TV program to step out of it all for an hour, but, like my eyes of late, my hearing related to the TV is not so good at times as well. I don’t know if the issue is...

    8 Bags

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

Today, for whatever reason, I decided it was the most important time ever to get some stuff out of the house, and that stuff I needed to remove meant the clothes I had separated out years ago- not days, or weeks, or even months ago, but yes, years ago- which have sat all this...

    Not Today

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 0 Comments

Another Saturday morning at the coffee shop. The breakfast was tasty and energizing, but I return to my standard state here. Another perusal of previously written words on a project. Another rabbit trail off onto Wikipedia and the Boeing website for more B-17 information. Another gathering of random facts. It took 108 planes over...

    In Gratitude For Beauty

    by  •  • LifeStuff • 2 Comments

I worship You, Lord, God of all beauty, Who has given, by thought and word, the severe majesty of mountains and valleys, sunlight kissing the young woman’s face, the satellite’s view into dark infinity, cool air on my neck on a hot afternoon, layers of violins striding over deep cello, the elevating hug of...

I thought I’d walk up Central a little this evening after work to see if there was anything worth shooting. I am still trying to understand the exposure triangle and how to use the camera’s settings out of Automatic mode to get a nice picture. The light was golden on the tall buildings north...

Tonight, the resurgent Lobo men’s basketball team hosted Boise State for a game with some significance to the conference results. Boise was in second place in the Mountain West Conference, two games ahead of a third place Lobo squad. A win for UNM meant they would shave a game off of Boise’s lead over...

    On The Verge

It was surprising to hop on my phone last night and discover that in this year’s Super Bowl, the underdog team with the backup quarterback pulled out the win. I was happy, if only because that meant New England lost. At one time I had no problem with the Patriots being a winning team,...
