POTD: Academy Geese

For whatever reason, it has finally occurred to me in the last year or so that I am aging. Never mind the white beard that has been around for a while. Or those odd aches and pains that appear out of nowhere. Not even feet neuropathy registered that I was getting older. But I’ve seen an unfamiliar rise in my blood pressure over the last year or two, and with that, my mind finally understood it. When you get older, things can go off the rails a little easier with daily health.
My parry to this fresh cognition has been to try and eat better (I will try to eat less in my next phase of self-control) and to move more.
I am fortunate that the 3.3 mile Academy Loop trail is less than a mile from my house, which gives me a good course getting a longer walk in.
In the winter, geese will find their way up from the river valley and rest in the ball fields on the Albuquerque Academy campus, which is pretty cool. It is also cool to be walking on the Loop trail by the campus and see some of them arrive, as I did this afternoon at about 4:15 PM.
