Eleventh-and-Five-Sixth Hour

It is 12 until midnight, and I am at the end of another day, forcing up another post before the clock rolls over into a new day. I know, come January, I will free myself of the requirement to post something everyday on here like I have tried to do this year. Much of what I’ve put up lately has been fodder. Or, if I want to keep making decent daily posts, I will need to change my writing time- because these last-hour posts are not the best.
What I know I hope to do in the new year is to write more, though, and to right better stuff. I have two writers I want to meet at some point in the near future to talk with about their approaches to the craft: the Professor Gish from my UNM Continuing Education classes, and a guy I know who writes for his own independent paper here in town.
I went and tried to take some photos of the Sandias this evening around 4, to just see if I could capture anything different. I took a few shots at my usual location west of Paseo with the camera in Auto mode, and then I took a few shots in Aperture Priority mode to play with F-stops and white balance adjustments.
I’m not sure any of my experimenting helped me to discover much. My skies mostly all washed out, even when I lowered the white balance and raised the F level.
Oh well. It’s all learning.
There is a photography meetup group here in Albuquerque that not only holds photography-related classes from time to time, but they also go to specific locations and/or events to take photos. And I it appears the location activities have decent attendance. I know there are some seasoned photographers in that group who attend these things, and that I could probably learn a lot by asking those people questions. We share the interest, after all. I am aiming to go to an event with that group soon. I am super poor at asking for help with most anything in life, and here is a chance for me to do that with a past time that brings a lot of joy. It’s an opportunity for me to also learn again how to get help.
The sunlight was nice for 30 minutes before the sun fell into the horizon. The sky was clear, and the light was golden. Shadows in canyons were strong and distinctive. Still, my photos were somewhat flat.
But you have to take the pictures to keep learning.
