The beginning of the end of this weekend’s quick trip began at 4 AM Milwaukee time this morning, which I think calculates to 2 AM last week Albuquerque time. Scott and I stayed at a hotel by the airport, so I was in the airport by 4:35, but I still cut it close to make the 5:30 flight to Phoenix- but make it I did.

We ended up sitting at the gate for another half an hour while the gate crew corrected some misinformation on the flight filing.

Three hours and some later, we landed in Phoenix, which seemed more like two days later. And yet 4 minutes later, because the morning sunlight was young and golden.

I had to speed walk from the C Gates wing to the D Gates wing in 5 minutes to make the Albuquerque connection- and, again, I made it, but this time, the plane already had closed its door when I got to the check-in counter. “Oh, you were the guy holding this up”, the older man said to me when I chose to sit beside him in the middle seat.

    “Yeah- it was me.”

I’m not gonna lie. I’ve felt a bit zombie-like for most of today, but I am grateful I got to go on the trip. Without the suggestion and the possibility of tickets from Scott, and the generous contribution of a Buddy Pass by family friend Lisa Garrell, it would not have happened.

    So many fajitas.

    So much swimming.

    So many Quintana strikes.

    So much fun.

I feel like I flew around the world three times today.

    Good night.

    About

A web programmer by day, I somehow still spend a lot of time thinking about relationships, God, and the significance of grace and love in daily events. I am old school in the sense that I believe in the reality of sin, and in the need of each human heart for deliverance to the Divine. I am one of those who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that you can find most answers to life's pressing issues in Him and His Word, the Bible. I ain't perfect, and a lot of the time I ain't good, but by God's grace and kindness, I am forgiven and free.
