Day on the Hill

Today began optimistically as a day for getting stuff done, but pretty much ended as a not so much.
Unmotivated and OCD, I ended up inventorying a few games in the old Avalon Hill game collection this morning, which then morphed into trying to inventory a few more, and then reviewing the inventory spreadsheet to begin numbering the games on the inventory list, which I eventually did not finish. I started the day late; morning was quickly afternoon; afternoon was quickly evening. The list of to-do’s I had in my head is largely undone. It is nearly 10PM. I am tired again. I guess that’s why weekends are two days long.
I did make some goulash around 4, which meant I would actually eat something today, and I proceeded to eat a ton of it.

I can’t seem to shake this melancholy stuff of late. It is part of the reason I am tired- I know it.
My friend Chuck Elmore, a musician, and music and administrative pastor at New Life City churchhere in town, wrote a book I had started a few weeks ago that I need to continue in and finish. As the name of his church suggests, Christian living is in part supposed to be defined by our renewed state which is a product of the believer’s life hidden in Christ. Chuck’s book, “All Things New”, explores this idea, and I have to say, I am living far from that idea right now. I feel morosely sad too much about my life and also the general state of existence these days. Knowing Chuck and his solid, genuinely loving and serving nature, I know he would speak to me. I just need to read it.
There was a time that I was very close to- and lived from- that concept.
I could use a change of scenery in my head.

Oh- and the Cubs lost again, to a very good and young Yankee team that looks a lot like last year’s Cub team.
At least reserve catcher Miguel Montero got in the game tonight.
To pitch.
Here’s Montero’s work on the hill.
And Montero has been here before. Last year, in a blowout against the Mets, he pitched an inning and a third- and gave up no runs.
That half an inning was my Cubs game highlight, no doubt. I say with a chuckle of appreciation.
