• Night at the Park

We went because my mom was offered some tickets from her dentist.

The Albuquerque Isotopes played the Tacoma Rainiers tonight in Isotope Park.

The weather was cool and lightly breezy and early springlike and perfect.

It was enjoyable because my friend Brian joined us, and my Mom likes to call him Markypoo because he reminds her of Mark Wahlberg, whom she likes a lot.

There was a slice of Dion’s pizza, and foul balls galore.

Brian coined the slogan “404” which was used liberally through the game, alluding to the simple formula a hitter needed to heed to to be successful at the plate. Turned inside out, “404” was also “Pop”, and the hitter needed to have pop. Hit the ball up, batter- up and out, over the 404 foot sign in right center field. That was the sweet spot on the field.

It was an enjoyable evening because former Lobo and 12th pick in the 2013 MLB draft, D.J. Peterson, was in his old stomping grounds, playing triple A ball in Albuquerque tonight as he tries to get on up to the next level.

It was also cool because we got to see a former Cub on the Isotopes roster- Chris Denorfia. Denorfia had arguably his best and longest (and most lucrative) year in the Big Leagues in 2015 as a Cub. Now 37, it’s hard to see him back in triple A, but I enjoyed seeing him anyways. I liked his blue collar work ethic when he filled gaps at Wrigley, and wish him the best.

It was an enjoyable evening because the park was pretty, and out in the outfield, there was this seat overlooking (some of) center field, which totally cracked me up.

"Great seats, eh buddy?- He missed the tag! He missed the tag!!..."

“Great seats, eh buddy?- He missed the tag! He missed the tag!!…”

The Topes won, 12-8, after we all left the game.

The game was most enjoyable, though, simply because these two people- the dearest in my life- were there.

    About

A web programmer by day, I somehow still spend a lot of time thinking about relationships, God, and the significance of grace and love in daily events. I am old school in the sense that I believe in the reality of sin, and in the need of each human heart for deliverance to the Divine. I am one of those who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that you can find most answers to life's pressing issues in Him and His Word, the Bible. I ain't perfect, and a lot of the time I ain't good, but by God's grace and kindness, I am forgiven and free.
