Sisters, Father, and Bombers

Today was a day of pleasant treats.
The first was unexpected, but most enjoyable, when my sister texted around 11 AM this morning and said she was in the area, and wanted to take me up on my taco lunch request a week or so ago.
The request was that she join me for lunch at a close by restaurant that my workmates turned me on to. I say restaurant, but the places is really principally a bar. But what I discovered that they had for lunch a short time back delighted me.
Tacos.
And to beat that, on Tuesdays, they have Taco Tuesday tacos, which is tacos, normally priced at 3 bucks each, for 2 bucks a whack.
So I went to Sisters on Central, 2 blocks from my work, with my sister. We sat at the bar and I downed three tacos, and she enjoyed a few tacos and an order of their chili cheese fries, which was delicious when I sampled it.
Later in the afternoon, Tim let me go over to the airport to meet my Dad and check out a few special visitors to the city.
I perused one of my Twitter lists yesterday that contains local news stories, and it just happened that I caught one post that said 4 old warbirds were stopping in Albuquerque for two days to let people see them, and to let people take flights on them, if they wished. If I hadn’t seen the tweet on Twitter, I would have had no idea they were coming through. But when I saw they were, I asked if I could take off a few hours, and then asked my dad to join me today to check them out. And we did.
From about 3-5 PM, we walked near or around the B-24, B-25, B-17, and P-51, taking photos. We walked through the B-17 and the B-24, and I took as many photos as I could to try and capture the environment on one of those old planes. How small those planes were inside of their fuselages. Amazing to think that the European War was largely won by thousands of birds of those two models dropping tons and tons of bombs on Germany.
We also got to see the B-25 and the P-51 come and go, each plane giving flights to customers while we were there.
Of course, seeing the planes was a special treat. But naturally, seeing them with my Dad made the experience that much better. I am grateful I can call my dad and ask him to join me on an event like this.
And I’m grateful I have a sister that, like me, enjoys some good tacos.
