Crew-sin!

I went to the library this afternoon to check out a book I had been wanting to read for a while- “Manhood”, by Terry Crews.
Terry is the muscly guy that was in Old Spice commercials a few years back. He’s also a regular actor, currently in the Fox comedy, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, but also visible in many recent films and other television shows. Before acting, Terry was a defensive end and a linebacker for several NFL teams during a short pro sports career.
So, here’s a hard-hitting defensive player who has known success in sports and on film, and he writes a book on manhood.
On my way walking back to the office from the library, I read the book’s prologue, and Terry talks about taking his seven-year old son out for a guy’s day (because the rest of their household is full of females).
They go to see Iron Man 3, and Terry is excited to take his son to this action-thriller, when shortly after it stars, Terry notices that his son is wincing and shading his face quite a bit. After a few inquiries in the theater if his boy is okay, to which he is told “Yeah”, in a short time, Terry takes his boy out to the lobby and asks him to be honest. “Is the movie okay? Is it scary? It’s okay to say if it is scary. men get scared sometimes.” “Yeah, dad. It’s scary.” “Let’s go home and go swimming instead.”
That was a good start to what looks like a good book.
