My boss keeps a blog, and I like how he does it. He doesn’t have to write about every single thing that happened in a day. He just picks a thing or two, and that is good for the day. Of course, his blog features his photography, which is always exceptional. Still, I like his format, and I need to do more of that. I think that is what Quick Hits was supposed to originally be. A diary in brief.
Last night, our young church small group met, and it was a great time for open dialogue. Needs were discussed and concerns were raised. Differences were aired. A potential exodus of a few delightful members was thwarted. And some painful personal items from several people’s pasts were proffered. The honesty was great for process and for trust. We agreed we need a bit more structure, and more focused time in study. The group has great chemistry for a bunch of rag-tag believers. We’re striving to connect and trust, which is what a small group should do.
Did I get any time in the Word yesterday? No. I did this morning in the cat room while the cats ate and leaned on me to be petted.
I started the Bible in January, and am just now in Numbers 4. Yeah. I am behind. The lesson numbers is showing me early on is that God is specific in how He wants things done, and how He wants His consecrated things taken care of by the Israelites. He secures a whole tribe of Israelites- the Levites- in lieu of taking every family’s firstborn male to be set apart for Him and His service. God wants our firsts. Our first sons, our first fruits, our first thoughts. Our first affections.
Work has been very busy the last week. I appreciate that.
Got my morning run in with Kurt. I have a freelance project I have to make progress on tonight.
I came across a featurette by the Breaking Bad folks that pretty much covered the day that I was on set for episode 5. I was around all day that day as an extra, as they weren’t sure if they needed cops to be present for the scene where the executive goes in the bathroom and hangs it up. So we got to watch much of the staging and filming that this piece chronicles. A nice souvenir from that day.
